FOOD REGULATORY COUNSEL

Main purpose of the job
- To provide strategic leadership across the food regulatory priorities.
- Establish Best Practices: Provide best practice standardization and codification on label/formula compliance and supports registration at a Federal, State/Provincial, and foreign market level.
- Cooperates with dedicated managers and specialists from across other Asahi Europe & International (AEI) functions to ensure strong compliance, high performance, and creative problem-solving.
- Build capabilities: Establish a continuous improvement program for end-to-end processes and the food regulatory Center of Excellence. Provide proper onboarding plans and business outreach, supported by strong relationships with the project teams.
- Provide Technical Support: Ensure regulatory compliance within their markets. Provide new tools that improves accuracy and speed.
- Assure Compliance: Collect data to monitor compliance, develop insights, prepare reports.
More specifically, you will be trusted to:
- Guide decisions & protect Asahi’s brands.
- Evaluate food regulatory risk and exposure and prepare measures to tackle the regulatory challenges
- Strong leader to set context, create focus and provide external perspective to drive change.
- Lead the development of a sustainable food regulatory process with a reputation for outstanding execution and leadership.
- Ensure alignment with key business partners across the HUB Center of Excellence, markets and functions (ex. Innovation, Legal, Quality Assurance, CR, Excise Tax, and Trade Compliance) to assess and agree possibilities and opportunities to enable AEI to navigate, create and deliver new innovation products capable of global scale.
- Identify changes in food regulations and provides outreach.
- Scan for and mitigates the food regulatory risks.
- Build trust and respect for AEI through representation at external forums such as trade associations or through interaction with government officials.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and projects which have a significant impact
- Responsible for establishment of the food regulatory site, standards libraries
- Establish a bold, restless culture known for finding creative solutions.
- Experienced in working and leading within the Performance Management structure of KPIs
- Proven track record in adherence to core processes and standards.
- Demonstrate role model behavior and coaches others across stakeholder groups and peers to follow a consistent approach and beyond mandatory minimum requirements.
- Proactively leverage innovative learning formats to ensure expertise continues to grow.
Do you have what it takes?
- Minimum 5-7 years experience in a commercial technical support function in the food or alcoholic beverage industry.
- Excellent academics or technical degree qualified (Food Science/Science)
- Proven track record of collaboration with a functional team of specialists in a regional, international or global environment.
- Self-starter with an ability to work independently and with remote teams. (if managing a team)
- Strong commercial acumen, Business Case development and influencing skills. Able to effectively communicate at all levels, both verbal and written, with internal stakeholders, external government agencies and 3rd Party vendors and customers.
- The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in food regulation and procedures, documentation requirements, and ingredient labelling regualtions, and have an in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes.
