Role Overview
As a Intellectual Property Counsel, you will assist in managing Asahi’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio, including trademarks, patents, designs, and copyrights. You will support the development of IP strategies and ensure the protection and commercialisation of IP rights in alignment with the company’s business objectives. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated IP professional to grow within an international legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- IP Management: Assist in managing AEI’s IP portfolio, including trademark registrations, patent filings, and maintenance of industrial designs. Ensure timely and accurate registration and renewal of IP rights across multiple markets.
- Collaboration with External Agents: Work with external IP agents to support the maintenance and expansion of the IP portfolio. Ensure high standards in IP asset management and advise the team on best practices.
- Trademark Clearance: Assist in trademark clearance and ensure that IP assets are documented and tracked accurately in both paper and electronic formats.
- Support for IP Litigation: Assist in managing IP-related litigation, supporting strategy development, and collaborating with external counsel when necessary.
- Compliance and Reporting: Monitor IP compliance within AEI and provide regular reports to internal stakeholders. Track trends in IP regulations and ensure that AEI’s IP management program remains up-to-date.
- Training and Awareness: Contribute to IP awareness and training programs for employees, especially in marketing, trade marketing, and other key functions, to ensure smooth integration of IP management into business operations.
Qualifications:
- Law degree (or equivalent) with a focus on Intellectual Property law (preferably trademarks).
- 2-3 years of experience in an in-house or law firm environment, with a focus on IP law.
- Familiarity with EU and international IP laws and regulations.
- Experience with WIPO and national Intellectual Property Offices is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with international teams and stakeholders.
- Proactive, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
