Main purpose of the job
Our Asahi Project Manager’s prime purpose is to ensure that the project produces the required products and outcomes within the specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope and risk. The Project Manager is also responsible for the project producing a result capable of achieving the benefits defined in the Business Case.
The Role owns delivery of all assigned projects - The Project Manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis on behalf of the Project Owner, Board or Steerco within the constraints laid down by them.
The role is responsible for leading teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business units, whilst owning the full project lifecycle. The role will be responsible for the definition, documentation, and successful completion of complex projects with significant business or high-profile impact, high-risk dependencies, and medium to large size teams. Successful delivery will include full implementation from Business Case refinement and from initiation to deployment and complete closure including decommissioning, for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.
The role will monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables whilst defining success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle. Additionally, the role will identify and develop trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors and other peers and stakeholders and continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices. The role will contribute to champion, coach and mentor on project management best practice within Asahi.
Excellent project management and internal and external stakeholder management skills are critical to succeed in this role involving execution of complex projects.
More specifically, you will be trusted to:
Responsible for the delivery of the agreed strategic project portfolio to agreed scope, quality, per timelines and budget.
Responsible for managing resources (#d people, business people, budgets, time) for successful delivery of the project. Responsible for prioritizing activities and delivering solutions.
- Planning: Accountable for all projects planning activities. The systematic organisation of a sequence of activities and resources to achieve project objectives, identify all the tasks which need to be done and estimates using all available information.
- RAID Management: Accountable for all RAID (Risks, Actions, Information and Decisions) management in projects. Effectively managed situations as a trade-off between risk and reward. Awareness of risk and appropriate appetite to take a calculated chance.
- Business Case Management: Responsible for defining the success criteria within the Business Case and for managing the Business Case during project lifecycle
- Benefits Management: responsible for delivery of or enablement of benefits as detailed in the project Business Case
- Results & Customer driven: Collaborates with the project customer to understand and define requirements precisely, then make every effort to deliver them. This puts the long-term need of the customer at the heart of the decision-making process, often helping the customer better understand the consequences and decisions during a project lifecycle.
- Governance: Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the project in accordance with the overall Project Governance, policies, practices and on behalf of the Senior Stakeholders under the umbrella of the CIO’s Project Management Methodology
- Monitoring and controlling – Accountable for maintaining own systems to track important project data as a way of validating the ASAHI systems and encourage team members to adopt the same approaches. This accountability includes bringing on the less experienced members of their team by regular checks of performance and by providing support.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Accountable for managing and influencing all stakeholder relationships directly and indirectly. Listening to stakeholders and taking on board what they say, learning and knowing how to get things done through personal contacts and how to overcome bureaucratic and procedural barriers.
- Resource & Capability Management: Manages the resources (#d, vendor and business), skills and competencies across project teams within the project.
- Lead and motivate their project management teams. Ensure that behavioral expectations of team members are established and maintained.
- Manage the information flows between the directing and delivery levels of the project. Manage the production of the required products, taking responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiating corrective action where necessary
- Drives consistency and quality in execution of projects, aligned with CIO Office’s PM methodology and stage-gates
Do you have what it takes?
- University Graduate (masters preferred)
- 5 + years’ experience in a senior project management capacity responsible for project budgets up to around 5m.
- Formal training, certification is desirable which can have been acquired through a professional association (e.g PMP. APM, Prince2) , a university or college.
- Proven success in providing direct leadership for project teams by building and motivating team members to meet project goals.
- Strong leadership & diplomatic skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology functions & organizations.
- Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
- Experience in working on business change and technical projects and ideally
