INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION MANAGER (HG 18)

 

Role overview:
Main purpose of the role is overseeing the implementation of internal and external communication strategies. Main duties include managing media and key comms stakeholder relations, managing internal and external communication channels such as social media platforms, communication assets (company website, intranet, digital hub etc.), coordination of company “internal voice”, employee engagement agenda routines (e.g. classic company events), employer branding engagement etc.

 

Responsibilities:
Guides and implements a media strategic plan in a way which enhances company reputation and contributes to the achievement of business goals.

  • Develops and implements strategic communication including both stakeholder and media relations, to drive favorable reputation in accordance with the Corporate guidelines and business priorities.
  • Manages the development and execution of the corporate media strategy, including guidance for brand PR to amplify consumer communication.
  • Lead Corporate PR and digital campaigns from planning to execution, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Lead the relationship with key media contacts and acts as a first point of contact, proactively identifying cooperation opportunities.
  • Manages media inquiries, ensures timely implementation of media events and distribution of informative materials (such as news releases, supporting documents, Q&As, reactive statements, management briefing, backgrounders, announcement of results etc.).
  • Ensures the management of a systematic monitoring and evaluation process for the Corporate Communication activities.
  • Responsible for Crisis Communication and Issue Management on behalf of CA department. Acts in this capacity alongside other designated members, where appropriate.
  • Proactively carries story-mining and reputation development, gets knowledge about latest (external) communication trends and best practices.
  • Manages the internal & external corporate identity and its updating, both through traditional (BTL) and digital platforms (external websites, Social Media Channels, AEI Consumer Digital Hub).

Coordinates and advises the local operation and relevant senior management team on external communication strategic plan. Represents Ursus Breweries in AEI Communication Working Groups, in external public & private events, as well as in selected professional bodies.

  • Establishes formal communication channels with relevant internal stakeholders and cultivates interactions to engage on topics of interest from external communication perspective.
  • Obtains internal consensus to launch external communication campaigns.
  • Develops thorough insight into the drivers of modern communication techniques and use of specific channels and brings it to the attention of relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Develops, manages and coordinates the media training (both traditional & Social Media) for all relevant UB employees and partner agencies, in line with our Communication & Social Media Policies.
  • Represents UB position in professional MarCom industry associations & selected professional bodies, after alignment with the Corporate Affairs VP.
  • Represents UB position in any other external public & private events, as mandated and in alignment with the Corporate Affairs VP.

Develops and supervises the implementation on internal communication strategy, with support from direct team.

  • Develops and implements the internal communication strategy in line with corporate guidelines and need of the organization (e.g. EVP & Employer Branding), aligning it with revelant stakeholders (HR VP, CA VP).
  • Defines engagement calendar (key internal communication projects and activities), based on strategic priorities.
  • Monitors the implementation of internal communication tools and activities, develops evaluation mechanisms, ensuring corrective measures whenever needed.
  • Identifies and implements best practices in terms of internal communication, to ensure purposeful communication across all channels.

Monitors, assesses and influences the media stakeholders and overall media landscape to ensure it enables communication strategy adjustment for building and protecting the reputation of Ursus Breweries, AEI and beer category.

  • Identifies and analyses key media trends, public external stakeholders’ messages and other external communication issues within the FMCG and other industries that may influence UB positioning and beer category reputation.
  • Facilitates assessment of key public agenda topics, both current and future, that may influence UB external communication agenda from across all UB sites.
  • Cooperates with Public Affairs & Regulatory Manager(s) + Sustainable Development Manager(s) to build strategic communication plans in view of protecting and enhancing UB and beer category reputation: i.e. apart from leading key media contacts, develops relationships with peers from NGOs and other entities active in the areas of Sustainable Development or Advocacy that have a strong media presence and influence (e.g. WWF etc.).
  • Manages the Media & Digital Monitoring agencies.

Coordinates agencies

  • Deploys, cooperatively, the process for the selection, management, development and evaluation of Corporate & Brand PR, Media Monitoring and Digital agencies.
  • Manages agencies properly to ensure positive and productive relationships, quality activities, point of difference versus competition, results as per the objectives.
  • Drives the yearly review process of the above agencies evaluation, draws conclusions and proposes actions.

Compliance with URSUS Breweries and AEI procedures

  • Develops functional related procedures (e.g. Communication & Social Media Policies etc.) and puts in place action plans to secure observance.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant procedures at URSUS Breweries and AEI, in particular with:
    • Corporate Affairs AEI & UB strategy
    • Communication and Social Media Policies
    • Reputation risk management
    • Alcohol Policies
    • Political donations policy
    • Anti-Bribery & Ethics Policies
    • Level of Authorities
  • Industry commitments: IARD, Responsible Marketing Pact (WFA), Digital Guiding Principles, WHO & EU alcohol frameworks (i.e. former EU Alcohol & Health Forum)
  • Plan, implement, review and report on budget with due consideration of spend effectiveness.

Cooperation with AEI through regional working groups

  • Actively participate and represent Ursus Breweries on specific AEI Working Groups as aligned with CA VP.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a managerial role in communication/digital/Brand PR/internal or external communication coupled with a proven understanding of local media landscape.
  • Master and University degree in Communication and PR, Journalism, Political Sciences, International Relations or Economy.
  • Professional courses/training in areas of communication/PR/digital/media relations in and outside Romania would be a plus.
  • Fluent in English & excellent mastery of Romanian language.
